Hippalot 2026 — children’s arts festival in Hämeenlinna

Hippalot is a four-day children’s arts festival for the whole family. In 2026 it will take place from 30 July to 2 August at Verkatehdas in Hämeenlinna.

Hippalot 2026 is one of Finland’s most interesting summer festivals for children and families. It will take place from 30 July to 2 August in Hämeenlinna, at the Verkatehdas cultural centre and related venues. Hippalot is not just a regular children’s event, but a large multidisciplinary festival where children can not only watch performances but also take part in creative activities. The programme usually includes theatre, concerts, workshops, exhibitions, dance, film, circus acts, crafts and visual arts. The theme for 2026 is emotions. This means that many programme items will be connected with feelings, mood, self-expression and learning to speak about experiences through art, movement, music and play. The festival is especially suitable for families with children aged roughly 0–12. Younger children can find calm and visual formats, while older children can enjoy workshops, interactive activities and creative spaces where they can make things themselves. Hämeenlinna is about one hour from Helsinki by train or car, so Hippalot can be a good idea for a family day trip or a summer weekend. Part of the programme may be free, while some performances and workshops require tickets. Before travelling, check the daily schedule, age recommendations and ticket availability on the official festival website.
