The Liszt Institute in Helsinki was founded in 1980 as the Hungarian Cultural and Scientific Centre. It is an important venue for Hungarian culture in Finland.
Since 2002 it has been located in Kaisaniemi in a modern building whose interior was designed by Finnish designer Esa Vesmanen. Its gallery, Galleria U, is considered one of Helsinki’s attractive exhibition spaces.

The institute organises concerts, exhibitions, lectures, film screenings, educational programmes and language courses. It also maintains a library and supports cultural dialogue between Finland and Hungary.
The institute is named after Franz Liszt, the famous Hungarian composer, pianist and conductor.
