Senate Square is a historic square in central Helsinki and one of the city’s main venues for celebrations, parades and cultural events.

Senate Square is located in the historic centre of Helsinki next to Helsinki Cathedral. It is known for its neoclassical architecture and surrounding buildings designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, including Helsinki Cathedral, Government Palace, the main building of the University of Helsinki and the National Library of Finland.
It is one of Helsinki’s most recognisable urban spaces and hosts public, cultural and festive events, including Helsinki Samba Carnaval.
